IMPORTANT NOTICE
FOR ALL BELIZE PASSPORT APPLICANTS
Dear Applicant
Please be informed that the Government of Belize, in accordance with relevant international Aviation, Security and Travel regulations, has now upgraded its passport issuance procedure to a machine readable passport system. The implementation of this system requires the applicant to appear, in person, so that their photograph, signature and fingerprints can be recorded electronically.
Please note that Belize authorities require that originals supporting the application of all documentation, including the current passport, be sent to the headquarters of the Department of Immigration and Nationality Services (DINS) located in Belmopan, the capital of Belize.
The High Commission no longer issues the passport document. The processing of the passport and the production of the completed document is now done at the DINS Headquarters in Belmopan and thereafter, dispatched by courier to the High Commission, London for forwarding to the applicant.
You are advised to therefore allow for a period of no less than six (6) weeks for the processing of all passport applications.
Due to technical difficulties being experienced in the implementation of the new Belize machine readable passport system, the Belize High Commission at London strongly recommends that applicants make arrangements to travel personally to Belize to apply for passport renewals/replacements at the Headquarters of the Department of Immigration and Nationality Services.
